Your organization field and mission:
The Malta Digital Innovation Authority operates within the digital innovation and technology regulation sector, focusing on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data systems. Its key mission is to act as Malta’s national focal point for digital innovation by directing and facilitating the secure and effective adoption of new technologies. The Authority aims to promote innovation while ensuring compliance with national and international standards, fostering trust, protecting users, and positioning Malta as a leading hub for technological advancement.
Please tell us briefly about your role in the company / at your organization:
I currently work as an Executive focused on innovative technology, with experience in administrative support, social media management, and customer engagement. I am skilled in coordinating schedules, handling communications, and supporting leadership, with a strong ability to maintain accurate records and contribute positively to team performance.
Your interest in STEM
My first role model was someone close to me who demonstrated dedication, resilience, and a strong work ethic. Today, I continue to draw inspiration from professionals and leaders in the STEM field who drive innovation and create meaningful impact through their work.
Your studies
During my studies, balancing coursework with other responsibilities was sometimes challenging, but it helped me improve my time management skills.
My advice is to stay curious, believe in your abilities, and not be discouraged by challenges. The tech sector offers many opportunities, so keep learning, seek support when needed, and confidently pursue your goals.
You at work
The Malta Digital Innovation Authority promotes several initiatives aligned with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Sustainability (DEIS). It supports digital inclusion and equal access by strengthening digital skills across society through education programmes, scholarships, and capacity-building initiatives. It also encourages ethical and responsible use of technology, ensuring transparency, user protection, and fairness in digital systems.
In terms of sustainability, the Authority integrates societal well-being and sustainable innovation into national strategies, such as Malta’s AI strategy, and supports research in areas like sustainable technologies and digital transformation. Additionally, MDIA fosters collaboration and diversity by engaging with stakeholders across public, private, and academic sectors, ensuring that innovation benefits a wide and inclusive community.
I am most proud of contributing to the successful implementation of innovative technology initiatives that improve processes, support leadership, and positively impact our team, and to see myself growing along the way.
Your point of view
Technology can empower women by providing access to education, professional opportunities, and resources that were previously limited. It enables networking, skill-building, and entrepreneurship, helping women to lead, innovate, and participate fully in the digital economy.
